Social Media Blog

Yesterday in class we read an article about social media and its effects on people applying for jobs and colleges. Even though most colleges and jobs say they wont look at applicants social media profile, most will. This can drastically change how colleges choose applicants. For example, if there is 5 kids with the same GPA and there are only 3 spots available but Th. eclogue finds out that 2 of the students were posting innaproriate things on there social media. They would choose the other 3 applicants. So if your a college applicant or job seeker you might want to make your social media is up to shape.

Handwriting Blog

This week in e9 we worked on two projects that both involved our names. For the first project we had to go onto adobe illustrator and use the rectangle tool to write our names. For me this was very hard because my name has a lot of letters that you can't use the rectangle tool to write. In the end it didn't look that good even though I put a lot of work into it.

For the second project we had to write our name on the top of the paper the write 10 descprtive words that expressed us. For example i used words like fun, honest, and friendly. After that we had to choose 3 different types of fonts that stood out to us. After we found the fonts we would have to write our name in that font to the best of are ability. I choose 3 difficult fonts try to challenge myself.

For these last 2 projects I thought it was really hard. I know a lot of people might disagree with that but in my opinion it was.

Presentation Skills

The biggest fear for most people is public speaking. Everyone can make it a lot easier for themselves if they just have these 5 things. The 5 thing are so simple anyone can figure it out. They are professional appearance, facial expression, eye-contact, posture, and having a loud voice. These skills  are so important for a good presentation. I mean think about it. You don't want to have a speaker talking to you that looks like he just woke up. You wouldn't want a speaker to being staring down at a paper the whole time. Wouldn't you rather have someone standing straight with a smile on their face.

In class we watched 3 TED speakers giving a presentation on a certain subject. As a class we would have to grade their speaking preformces off the skills we just learned. I thought that all the speakers did a great job relaying what they wanted to get across to the audience.

The last assignment we did over public speaking was to present to the class one of are blogs that we did. It was a pretty easy assignment because Mrs. Smith didn't make us memorize the blog. I think I did a pretty good job on the speaking. I could probably look more at my audience than my paper for next time. I had a good time doing this project.

sketchbook

Our class was assigned a project to make our first sketches in our sketchbook. In my sketchbook I drew diffirent things like logos and sports that I play right now. When I chose the logo I just drew my favorite sports teams logo. Im not very artistic but I tried my best to make the drawing good. For the colors I feel like I could have added more color to my sketches. All in all I feel like I did a decent job and theres always room for improvement.

color

My favorite color is blue. It stands for tranquility and calmness. I have always liked the color blue. I don't know why it is my favorite color it has always just stood out for me. Blue can be found in a lot of place for example blueberries, beaches, the sky, and blue is often used in car companies like ford, Mazda, and BMW.

My least favorite color is brown. I don't really know why I don't like brown maybe because Texas aTm is brown. The only logo i can think of with brown are chocolate brands. Now you would think that was a good thing but I hate chocolate. Other than that i can't think of any brands.

Sidewalk chalk

For around 2 days me and 4 other people worked on a project for e9. We had to come together and collaborate to make ourselves a group flag. First thing we had to do as a group was choose colors.  That was pretty easy because everyone either voted for orange, blue, and white. We all got a sheet handed out to us showing us the colors meaning. The most voted color out of are group was blue which stands for tranquility and calmness. The other voted colors where orange and white, orange represented joy, creativity, enthusiasm, and sometimes revolutainry ideas. While white stands for peace and innocence. After trying out several different designs for our flag we decided to go with something more basic while making also meaningful to each and every one of us. The flag itself took a while to draw on the huge block of sidewalk but it was a relief to see it all complete.

For the colors and symbols our group just had us vote on the color and we each got to choose n object to put as our own symbol. For the entire flag we had a group symbol that was the sun. That was just something we all agreed on and it was that easy. For the individual symbols they were each something we valued. For me I picked a baseball because I have been playing it all my life. Other symbols my group picked were things like the mountains, a butterfly, and a camera.

All in all in was a good experience and a good test to see how well we could collaborate with people we might not have known. If we were to do this again I would wish that we all collaborated a little bit more but it was all good in the end.
